\u00a0What can happen to your piano over as year pass?<\/h4>\n

The piano is made of very fine diverse\u00a0materials<\/strong>.\u00a0\u00a0Such as selected and exotic woods, felt, leather, ivory, plastic, steel, cast iron, copper, brass etc.\u00a0\u00a0With time all of these components age and change.\u00a0\u00a0The\u00a0environmental conditions<\/strong>\u00a0for each piano may vary widely.\u00a0\u00a0In general, the older the piano, the more work can be expected in its repair.\u00a0\u00a0Felts\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0leather<\/strong>\u00a0can be eaten by moths, worn or become compressed from use.\u00a0\u00a0Iron can\u00a0rust,\u00a0wood joints can separate, become cracked or suffer other forms of damage.\u00a0\u00a0Strings<\/strong>\u00a0lose their elasticity and tone.\u00a0\u00a0Pinblock<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>can become loose and not support the tuning pins making the piano\u00a0untuneable.\u00a0\u00a0Soundboard\u00a0<\/strong>damage can include cracking, separation from the bridges, ribs and rim, loosing its crown.\u00a0\u00a0The whole\u00a0action<\/strong>\u00a0can change its geometry and functionality.\u00a0\u00a0Action parts<\/strong>\u00a0could be loosed, worn, missing or broken and become out of regulation. Especially affected are:\u00a0hammers<\/strong>,\u00a0backchecks<\/strong>,\u00a0knuckles<\/strong>,\u00a0key bushings<\/strong>,\u00a0keytops<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0dampers<\/strong>.\u00a0\u00a0Veneer<\/strong>\u00a0can become separated or\u00a0missing,\u00a0paint<\/strong>\u00a0will burn from sunlight, and become faded or peeled.<\/p>\n

A piano may require anyone out of a potential 450 different\u00a0repairs<\/strong>.\u00a0\u00a0A piano is assembled from over 5000 parts.\u00a0\u00a0Most of the individual parts are located in the action which requires more than 20 different\u00a0regulations and adjustments<\/strong>\u00a0on each key and about 10 other for the rest of the piano.<\/p>\n
